Salem resident Lisa Abbate established A Vision for Salem after researching the issues related to the power plant, including public health, the poor corporate citizenship of the power plant owner, local revenue issues, and redevelopment of contaminated properties across the country. The founder of wordmountain.com, a successful writing and editing company, Lisa focuses on helping small business and sole proprietors develop their written communications with the goal of attracting new clients and building their businesses. She also has a strong background in corporate documentation practices, with an emphasis in software/ technology documentation. Lisa and her husband believe that their daughter, along with every child, deserves a shot at a long and healthy life--which means emissions from obsolete, unsafe power plants have to go.
As Executive Director, Lisa meets with state and local officials and environmental groups, and raises public awareness on power plant issues with the goal of power plant closure, site redevelopment and the creation of jobs and fiscal prosperity for her community.
Lisa is thankful for the support of many North Shore residents who help with developing and promoting A Vision for Salem.
